Home to Granby, Grand Lake, Kremmling, Hot Sulphur Springs, Winter Park, a number of commercial, as well as backcountry sites, Grand County offers skiers varied terrain and breathtaking views of the majestic Rockies.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch
Located in Tabernash, Colorado, Devil’s Thumb Ranch features 100 km of groomed trails and skating tracks that wander through 5,000 acres of secluded meadows and hills and poses a challenge to every level of skier. Offering both day and night skiing, man’s best friend is also welcome to join in some skijoring (skiing with your harnessed dog)! The perfect place to stay and play, the Ranch is home to a full-range of luxury cabins, as well as a state-of-the art spa facility.

Snow Mountain Ranch
Just outside Granby, Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center also features 100 km of groomed track. With trails that wander through pine forest, wide meadows and along Pole Creek, Snow Mountain is home to many of the more advanced trails. With 2-km of lighted trail for those nighttime skiers, skijoring is also popular.

SolVista Basin
Home to some 40 km of sparsely crowded, groomed trails, SolVista Basin in Granby borders two alpine ski hills, from which the brave can take in views of the Continental Divide and the Indian. Free for use, SolVista offers a ski rental shop, lessons, as well as alpine skiing.

Grand Lake Touring Center
Active as a golf course in the summer, after the first snow fall Grand Lake becomes home to some 30 km of groomed, tracked and skating trails. Cross-country lovers can wander the rolling hills of the golf course and nearby forest. Also home to the more challenging backcountry trails, Grand Lake features full moon skis, rentals, lessons, as well as a restaurant and lounge on site.

Latigo Ranch
The best of guest ranch hospitality, Latigo Ranch in Kremmling is home to 60 km of prime nordic skiing. Backcountry and telemark trails lead out into the surrounding forest, which along with excellent food and historic lodging makes Latigo Ranch one of Grand County’s most memorable getaway spots.

For those that dare, more than 70 percent of Grand County’s area is open space and can be used freely by cross-country skiers. Remote areas in Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapaho National Forest, Medicine Bow National Forest and the Vasquez, Beyers, Never Summer and Indian Peak wilderness can be accessed by the more daring and information is available at any of the above nordic centers.
